Abstract

Ankyloglossia in adults, presenting as anterior or posterior variants, can significantly restrict tongue mobility and compromise speech, oral hygiene, and overall function. This case series evaluates the effectiveness of laser-assisted management of anterior and posterior ankyloglossia in adult patients. Individuals presented with symptoms such as limited tongue movement, speech difficulty, and oral discomfort. Clinical examination enabled differentiation between anterior and posterior tongue-tie. All cases were treated using diode laser assisted frenectomy, offering a minimally invasive approach with improved precision. Intraoperative advantages included reduced bleeding, better visibility, and shorter procedure time. Postoperative outcomes were favorable, with minimal pain, rapid healing, and no significant complications. Patients were advised tongue mobility exercises to enhance functional recovery and prevent reattachment. Follow-up assessments demonstrated significant improvement in tongue movement and speech. This case series highlights the efficacy of laser-assisted intervention as a safe and predictable modality for managing both anterior and posterior ankyloglossia in adults.
